Visa and PSP Platon Expand Biometric Authentication Capabilities for Online Payments with Visa Payment Passkey
KYIV, January 6, 2026 — Visa, in collaboration with payment provider PSP Platon (LLC “Online Payments”), is expanding the use of Visa Payment Passkey in Ukraine, completing the integration on December 26, 2025.
Visa Payment Passkey is based on global FIDO (Fast Identity Online) standards. Unlike traditional passwords and SMS codes, payment passkeys are more resistant to phishing, data interception, and theft, which aims to significantly enhance the security of online transactions.
By integrating Visa Payment Passkey, PSP Platon expands the capabilities of its Token Management Service (TMS)-based solution, enabling merchants to use this new authentication feature without the need for additional technical development. This allows consumers to authenticate transactions with fingerprint scanning or facial recognition, delivering a faster, more convenient and frictionless checkout experience.
This initiative leverages Visa Acceptance Platform (VAP/Cybersource) authentication and authorization capabilities to accelerate the adoption of global digital payment standards in Ukraine. Once a payment passkey is created, consumers can use it with any partner supporting the solution ensuring a familiar and unified checkout experience across channels.“We are pleased to expand the availability of Visa Payment Passkey for stored Visa cards in Ukraine. It allows users to confirm online payments as easily as unlocking their smartphone—without passwords or one-time codes, but with a high level of security and data protection. This solution strengthens consumer trust in online transactions and supports the growth of the digital economy”, said Tetiana Chorna, Visa Vice President, Country Manager for Ukraine.
“Thanks to its collaboration with Visa, PSP PLATON implements an advanced solution to protect online payments. Visa Payment Passkey allows users to authenticate transactions using biometrics without banking apps, one-time passwords (OTP) or calls from the bank. Payments are confirmed with a fingerprint or other biometric methods, eliminating unnecessary steps during checkout”, commented Gela Slusarchuk, CBDO PSP PLATON.
